To enhance the clinical competency of alcohol and drug treatment professionals to successfully implement Relapse Prevention Strategies for Older Adults. Objectives:
Upon completion of the workshop participants will be able to:
  • Define Relapse, and Relapse Prevention
  • Develop a better understanding of the unique treatment needs of older adults.
  • Identify the bio-psycho-social factors affecting older adults and their role in the relapse process
  • Develop an increased understanding of the rationale and benefits of incorporating relapse prevention strategies into treatment
  • Identify key components of effective relapse prevention programs.
  • Be able to employ 2 cognitive behavioral self management relapse prevention strategies for older adults
  • Incorporate relapse prevention strategies for older adults into their counseling regime
